The job

Warner Bros. Discovery's platform technology organization sits at the intersection of tech, entertainment, and everyday utility. We are continuously leveraging new technology to build immersive and interactive viewing experiences. Our platform covers a multitude of areas that enable or augment consumer experiences for brands like CNN, Bleacher-Report, HBO and more. This software development role will support backend solutions for DC Universe Infinite, Boomerang, Wizarding World and Magic Caster.

We are looking for a software developer who

  • Can communicate honestly and openly with internal customers and stakeholders. In this role expect to negotiate both requirements and timelines.
  • Will write clean and documented code
  • Will write quality tests
  • Will not be intimidated by addressing technical challenges they have not encountered before
  • Is not discouraged when strategic directions change
  • Has at least 5 years of experience writing production code using Python, Goland or Node.js
  • Has extensive experience with cloud providers (preferably AWS)
  • Has familiarity with Data Dog, Kibana and Cloud Watch

Our Technical Environment

  • We develop and maintain backend software solutions across multiple domains (we wear a lot of hats)
    • identity,
    • eCommerce,
    • CMS,
    • Video Delivery
    • Data Engineering
  • Most applications are written in Python (Django), but we also have some Golang and Node.js.
  • Occasional UI (User Interface) development to create administrative dashboards and instrumentation for backend systems.
  • We work in a collaborative and open environment.
  • You will be asked to develop solutions that balance innovation, quality, delivery time, and align with business strategy.
  • Use both relational (MySQL) and non-relational (DynamoDB, Elasticsearch) databases
  • We develop both RESTful-JSON and GraphQL APIs
  • Build our services in AWS, utilizing S3, SQS, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB
  • Extensively use containerization (docker), Terraform, git, etc.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles that will be performed in New York City. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $85,400.00 - $158,600.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
